Naugatuck - Mrs. Patricia Ann (Deegan) Kennis, age 80, of Pleasant Ave., entered into eternal rest Sunday May 9, 2010 at her home. She was the widow of Edward Joseph Kennis.
Mrs. Kennis was born in Waterbury on September 2, 1929 a daughter of the late John F. and Mary (Leary) Deegan. She graduated from Naugatuck High School Class of 1947, and Teachers College of Connecticut in New Britain. Pat was retired from the Borough of Naugatuck School System having taught for 37 years at Salem School and her beloved Central Avenue School. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Naugatuck. She was a member of the Ancienty Order of Hibernians, the Naugatuck Womens Club, and the Naugatuck Historical Society. "Deegie" was a proud member of the Chucklers, college friends that she adored.
Mrs. Kennis is survived by a son Edward Deegan (Ned) Kennis and his wife Laura of Newington, a daughter: Maryellen Royka and her husband Todd of Naugatuck, her two sisters and best friends: Margretta D. Thurston of Wallingford and Judith D. Fitzgerald of Stuart, FL, and two grandchildren, the light of her life: Samantha Elizabeth and Zachary Edward Royka. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who enjoyed sharing many laughs with their beloved aunt "Dee-Dee".
The funeral will be held on Wednesday May 12,2010 at a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home 82 Fairview Ave. Naugatuck to St. Francis of Assisi Church 318 Church St. Naugatuck for a mass at
a.m. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck. Friends may call at the fuenral home on Tuesday May 11, 2010 from 4 to 7 p.m.
