Kenneth Edward Neumann, 78, of Cheshire, beloved husband of Ann Neumann, passed away on July 24, 2024.
Ken was born on March 3, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York. Son of the late Edward and Angeline (Tarka) Neumann. He was a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, with a BS in Economics. Ken proudly served in the United States Navy, with two tours of duty in Vietnam; aboard Destroyer USS Alfred A. Cunningham DD-752 and in Naval Intelligence in Saigon, where he received the Navy Commendation Medal Combat V award for valor. Until his retirement, he was the manager of safety, health, and environment with the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection for over 10 years.
Ken was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping and other outdoor activities. He was a volunteer leader in Boy Scout Troop 51 in Cheshire for over ten years, and loved participating in the Klondike Derby at Camp Mattatuck for many years. Additionally, Ken was the chairman of the Cheshire Water Pollution Control Authority for over 20 years. As past Master of Masonic Temple Lodge 16 in Cheshire, Ken enjoyed many years of fulfillment with his fellow Masons, and always participated in the many events that the Lodge hosted.
In addition to his wife of 57 years, Ann, Ken leaves behind his children Karl Neumann (Sandra), and Sheila Anderson (Thatcher), four grandsons, Noah Anderson, Kiefer Neumann, Kyle Neumann, and Kai Anderson, and his loving sister Paula Konon Golden. He also leaves behind his sweet dog, Molly.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Temple Lodge No. 16, 9 Country Club Road, Cheshire, CT 06410.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Cheshire, 111 Church Drive, Cheshire, CT, followed by a reception at Masonic Temple Lodge 16 at 9 Country Club Road in Cheshire. Burial will be private.
