Kenneth Ives Hale, 91, of 1513 Marion Rd, Cheshire, died Sunday Dec. 14, 2008 at the Southington Care Center in Southington. He was the husband of Mary (Allen) Hale.
Mr. Hale was born in Cheshire, Sept. 16, 1917, a son of the late Lucius J. and Ada (Ives) Hale and was educated in the local schools. He attended Crosby High School in Waterbury and was a graduate of Mount Hermon School in Northfield, Mass. and attended Cornell University. He was a Poultry farmer in Cheshire for many years.
He was a member and former Deacon of the First Congregational Church of Cheshire and had served as an Election Moderator during local elections. He was a active member and Past Master of the Cheshire Grange, a member and past officer of Pomona and was a Past Pink Sash of the Conn. State Grange, and a member of the National Grange. He had been a former member of the Cheshire Lions Club and a 4-H leader for a number of years. He had also served as a District Fire Warden for the State of Conn.
Besides his wife of 68 years, he leaves 2 sons, Stuart Hale of Newbury, N.H., and Donald Hale of Lehigh Acres, Fl.; 4 daughters, Nancy Hale of Lehigh Acres, Fl., Sally Dery of Deming, NM., Cindy Schieman of Lyman, NH., and Janet Hale of Cheshire; 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by 2 sisters, Doris Bell, and Shirley Cook and a grandson Stuart Hale.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Cheshire, 111 Church Dr. Burial will be in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the Slater Funeral Home, 242 South Main St., on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church of Cheshire, 111 Church Dr., Cheshire, 06410 or to the Cheshire Grange, P.O.
