Antoinette Keating

Kind & Loving Person
Antoinette J. Keating, 86, of Naugatuck.
Surrounded by her loving family, Antoinette peacefully entered eternal life on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was the wife of the late Thomas Keating and the daughter of the late Louis and Lucille DeCarlo. Antoinette was born on April 20, 1927, and was a life-long resident of the Borough of Naugatuck.

Antoinette’s greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and sharing a meal with family and friends. Antoinette loved watching sporting events on television, and would amaze her family and friends by how much she knew about the players and their families. She also loved to read passages from the bible, the daily word and would indulge in her weekly subscription to People Magazine.

Antoinette had an infectious smile and a keen sense of humor that brought warmth and comfort to those around her. She was innately kind to all people and she had enormous empathy for those in need and would often give generously of her time and limited resources to lend a helping hand. Antoinette was blessed with extraordinary beauty, a heart that had no bounds and a soul that embraced the Lord with absolute fidelity. It was with genuine reverence that she received her spiritual support and encouragement from the ministry and good friends at Christ the King Church in Naugatuck.

Antoinette was also a person of admirable courage who persevered through personal tragedy with dignity, hope and faith; all of which inspired those who loved her so dearly. She recently said that she “felt blessed to have a caring and loving family, and that she had tried to live her life with purpose, one that reflected compassion, kind deeds and the love of God to people.” Antoinette was inspired by the words in songs such as How Great Thou Art, Amazing Grace and I Can Only Imagine.

Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her beloved son Sean Keating, and sisters Lucille Grella and Lois Guisti. Antoinette is survived by her son Tommy Keating of Middlebury and his two children Kevin and Taylor; her daughter Gladys Pisani of Middlebury and her husband Joe; her daughter Maura Fisher of Lansdowne, PA and her husband Scott and their children Scott Jr., Kara and Ryan; her daughter Kara Pompano of Middlebury and her children Alyssa and Haley; her son Timothy Keating of South Yarmouth, Mass.; Sean’s wife Jo-Ann Keating of Southbury and their two children Erin and Karly; her sister Jean Johnson of Naugatuck; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

A service celebrating Antoinette’s life will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. at Naugatuck Congregational Church, 9 Division St, Naugatuck. Family and friends are requested to meet directly at the church for the service. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.
