He is survived by his beloved wife, Rose Erin (Fitzgerald) Kay and his mother Catherine Kay of East Hartford and his father Steven Kay and his wife Kimberly of Fort Worth, Texas, along with his brother Nathan and his nephew Nathan, Jr. with whom he loved to spend time.

He leaves behind his in-laws Carey and Larry Fitzgerald of Prospect whom he looked to as his “second parents”. He leaves behind his sister-in-law Mary Kathryn Fitzgerald and brother-in-law Brendan (BJ) Fitzgerald. He also leaves behind his maternal grandmother, Margaret Grabowski, and paternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Kay, and William and Florence Schaefer, with whom he shared a close relationship, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was pre-deceased by his maternal grandfather, Thaddeus W. Grabowski and Frank and Mary Fitzgerald and his uncle Michael Pintek his fellow NY Giants fan.

Michael grew up in Ellington were he started his football career with the Ellington Road Runners where he earned the nickname “mad dog”. He was a graduate of Rockville High School where he played football for all 4 years. He often reminisced about those carefree days in high school. Michael attended the University of Connecticut and Western Connecticut State University where he met the love of his life, Rose.

Michael felt he “was born to sell” and was employed by the AT&T retail store in Canton, where he recently received an outstanding performance award. Michael’s loves included playing cards, Texas Hold ‘Em, setback and especially singing and dancing to his favorite songs. He enjoyed watching the UFC, the NY Giants and Boston Red Sox games with his family and friends.

Michael will be best remembered for his infectious love of life which brought smiles and laughter to all those he touched.

At Michael and Rose’s wedding we will always remember him saying: “Every rose has its thorns and I feel blessed, honored and privileged to be the thorn to the most beautiful Rose in the world”.
