Kathleen “Kathy” (Wallace) Mahmood, age 71 of Cheshire, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Sunday, March 30, 2025 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. She was the devoted wife of the late William “Bill” Mahmood for 34 years until his passing in 2013. Kathy was born on April 16, 1953 in Waterbury, daughter of the late John Robert and Theresa (Griffin) Wallace.

She was raised in Cheshire, graduating from Cheshire High School, Class of 1971. Kathy earned her Bachelor’s degree in Spanish Language Education from the University of Bridgeport and went on to teach Spanish at Colby Cathedral High School in Bridgeport. She later worked for several departments for the State of Connecticut, Off Track Betting, Department of Corrections and the Department of Developmental Services. Kathy was best known for her selflessness, her positive energy and her musical talents; her devotion to her faith and her church. She was the Musical Director of St. Bridget Church for over 25 years, Children’s Choir Director, and Bingo Member in Charge on Thursdays for more than 10 years. She was involved with her community as a Cheshire Ram Band Parent, Cheshire Community Chorus Member, and a dedicated Dance Mom.

She is the beloved mother of Bryan Mahmood and his wife, Stacey of Rockland, MA; Jeffrey Mahmood and his wife, Michele of Lebanon; and Leila Charette and her husband, Todd of Glastonbury. Kathy also leaves her cherished grandchildren, Jacob and Lucas Mathiau; Jasper, Elijah and Finley Mahmood; and Ethan and Aidan Mahmood; and her loving brother, Robert Wallace of Cheshire. She was predeceased by her brother, John Wallace.

Friends may greet Kathy’s family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 So. Main Street, Cheshire, CT 06410 on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 2PM until 5PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 7, 2025 at St. Bridget of Sweden Parish-St. Bridget Church, 175 Main Street, Cheshire (Please meet directly at church). Burial will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery, Wallingford Rd., Cheshire. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bridget School, 171 Main Street, Cheshire, CT 06410.
