CHESHIRE - Kathleen Mae (Mouzar) Anderson, 86, died peacefully Friday November 18, 2011 in Meriden, Ct from complications resulting from Alzheimer's disease. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years, John R. Anderson, Sr., who died in 2004.
Born March 5, 1925 in Boston, MA, Mrs. Anderson was the daughter of the late William L. and Jessie A. Mouzar. She grew up in Dorchester, MA, where her future husband was her next-door neighbor. She graduated from Dorchester High School for Girls and received her Bachelor of Arts from Boston University. She married John Anderson at the Boston University Chapel on August 4, 1951. They made their home together and raised their family in Simsbury, CT for 31 years, then shared retirement in Brewster, MA for 11 years. After her husband's passing, she lived at Arden Courts of Hamden, CT then moved to The Highlands Health Care Center in Cheshire, CT for her remaining years.
Mrs. Anderson was a member of the First Church of Christ in Simsbury. She was a leader with the Girl Scouts of America for a number of years. Mrs. Anderson enjoyed playing the piano and as a young woman accompanied musical events at Boston University. She took great joy in being a mother and wife, always caring for her children. She was an accomplished baker and cook.
She is survived by her son, John R. Anderson, Jr. and his wife, Jeanne (Scanlon) of Cheshire; her daughter, Nancy Anderson Fox of Cary, NC; her grandchildren, Zoe and John R. (Jack) III of Cheshire; and Jessie of Cary, NC.
Mrs. Anderson's family extends their deepest thanks to the caring staff, nurses and nursing assistants at Arden Courts and The Highlands for their dedicated and loving care for Mrs. Anderson during her last 7 years.
Arrangements - A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, Nov. 27th at 3:00 PM at the First Church of Christ, 689 Hopmeadow St., Simsbury, CT. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 30th at 11:00 AM, at Blue Hills Cemetery, 700 West St., Braintree, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067. The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements.
