Katherine Morton

OCALA, FL; Mrs. Katherine E. "Kay" (Allman) Morton, formerly of Waterbury, CT, passed away Sunday April 18, 2010 at the Ocala Health and Rehabilitation Center after a brief Illness. She was the widow of Joseph M. Morton.

Katherine was born in New Haven, CT, April 4, 1917, a daughter of the late Louis Allman and Jane "Jenny" (Beck) Allman. She moved to Waterbury during her high school years, graduating from Waterbury Catholic High School. She worked at the Waterbury Clock Shop and Peter and Paul Candy Company in Naugatuck, CT. After raising her family, she was employed by Saint Mary's Hospital as a nurse's aide, retiring in the late 80's. Mrs. Morton loved to play piano; was an avid bowler for many years and had a large heart for animals. She moved to Ocala in 1998 with her daughter and son-in-law, where she became a resident of Rolling Greens Retirement Community.

Besides her daughter, Maureen M. Corcoran of Ocala, she leaves two sons, Michael J. Morton and his wife Jackie, of Epping, NH, and Dennis P. Morton and his wife, Shirley, of Waterbury, CT; five grandchildren, Cheryl A. Morton, Joseph P. Morton, Michelle J. Morton-Curit, Stephen M. Morton and Colleen F. Corcoran and three great grandchildren, Branaugh, Yenna and Aedan Morton. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Francis C. Corcoran.

Funeral services for Katherine will be held Friday at 8:15 a.m. from the Mulville Funeral Home 270 West Main Street in Waterbury to Saint Leo the Great Church 20 Bentwood Drive in Waterbury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in New Saint Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marion County, P.O. Box 4860, Ocala, FL 34478-4860.
