WOLCOTT- Katherine O. Dryfe, aged 76, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Bradley Memorial Hospital in Southington. She was the dearly beloved wife of W. John Dryfe.
Kate was born February 2, 1939 in Stirling, Scotland, the oldest child of the late James and Christina (McGregor) Hogg. She came with her family to the United States in 1977.
She worked as a registered nurse and a certified midwife before leaving to raise her family.
Besides her husband of 52 years she is survived by her son Neil and his wife Cyndi of Avon and their children Deja, Collin and Ilana, her daughter Christine Bonvisuto and her son Thomas Jr., Christine’s fiancée Mark and his son Joe, all of Wolcott, her brothers James Hogg and his wife Annette and Stewart Hogg and his wife Anne, all in Scotland, her sisters Sandra Taylor and her husband John in Canada and Christina Laing and her husband John in Scotland and nine nieces and nephews. Kate was predeceased by her brother in law, Thomas Dryfe of Scotland.
The family wishes to express its sincere thanks to all the wonderful staff of the Alzheimer’s Resource Center, and in particular the staff of Neighborhood 1B, for the outstanding care and love given to Kate and the love and support to the family. You “lived it with us” for seven years and for that we will be eternally grateful. The family would like also to thank Dr. Andrew Guest and the staff of N3 of Bradley Memorial Hospital for the kindness and compassionate care given to Kate.
Arrangements- Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family and there are no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home in Cheshire, 615 South Main Street, 06410, is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kate’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center, Plantsville CT, 06479 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Executive Boulevard, Suite 4B, Southington CT, 06489.
