CHESHIRE - Karla S. Andersen, beloved wife of Rev. Ray Andersen passed away peacefully with her family by her side in hospice care at Midstate Medical Center on Monday, December 12, 2022. Karla was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Karl Scholz, of Ansonia.
In addition to her husband, Karla leaves three sons, John Simmon, Steven Simmon, and Jeff Simmon as well as her treasured daughter-in-law Kelli Simmon. She also leaves four loving grandchildren, Jocelyn, Johnny, Jack and Jenna.
After graduating from Ansonia High School, two professional positions lay ahead of her. First, she was Secretary of the Vocational Dept. at the American School for the Deaf for 17 years and then Executive Secretary to the Headmaster at Cheshire Academy for another 17 years.
Karla was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Cheshire. She was active in the dog training community in Cheshire with her good friend Kathy Queen. Baking came naturally to her, and her pies, cookies and chocolate cake made mouths water.
Karla loved dogs and she and Ray had 20 cherished canine pals in their 41 years of marriage. Karla loved taking care of her many gardens and was never happier than when she could get her hard-working hands into the soil, or pet her beloved four-legged buddies. For Karla happiness was a budding flower or a dog’s wet nose.
Following her wishes there will be a family remembrance of her gifts to us this coming spring. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Cheshire Animal Shelter, 500 Highland Ave., Cheshire, Ct.
