St. Petersburg - Judith Barrett Theroux, 85, of St Petersburg, FL passed away Monday May 20, 2019 at her home with her granddaughter by her side.
Born in Connecticut, her family then moved to Rhode Island where she graduated from Cumberland High School. She then went on to Wheelock College in Boston, MA and graduated in 1955 with an education degree. She began her career teaching in Japan. She then taught elementary school in Naugatuck, CT for over 25 years before she retired in the early 1990’s.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harold N. and Hilda Barrett; her brother Harold C Barrett Sr.; and her sons Mark and David Theroux. Judy is survived by her son and daughter in law Scott and Emily Polek, her grandchildren Melissa and Matthew Polek, and her nephews Harold Clark Barrett Jr. and Chris Barrett.
Judy was a loving, caring, and passionate person. She lived a wonderful life, full of family, friends, and travel. She loved spending her days at the beach where she felt most at home. Judy lived selflessly always giving and expecting nothing in return. Her vibrant spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.
Arrangements: A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019, at a 10:00 A.M., at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Church St., Naugatuck. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 30, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St.
