Cheshire - Judith A. Mettler, 81, passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at Elim Park. She was the wife of the late Michael Mettler.
Mrs. Mettler was born February 3, 1940, in Atlanta, GA, the daughter of the late Simon and Fan (Chain) Krantz. She was raised and educated in Atlanta where she was voted most intellectual in high school. She came to CT to visit family and met her husband at the Colony Beach Club.
Judy was above all a wonderful caretaker. Not just for her husband and children, but others in her orbit - mother-in-law Billie, Uncle Alvin, Cousin Gloria, countless women at the Jewish Community Center - Judy was a more than special friend to them all. She never wanted anyone to feel lonely or left out.
Judy extended her care to all things living: an avid gardener and tender of plants, a lover of animals who bought a pedigreed dog at a tag sale. Judy loved to cook, and also to clean - more of a perfectionist on the latter! Judy's interests in life changed over time - where once she obsessed over the ticker tape on CNBC, she later did the same for the Game Show Network. There were some constants along the way - she never stopped adoring Elvis, never got tired of winning more than her share at Mahjong, and truly enjoyed watching golf, and rooting for "her man" Phil Mickelson.
Mrs. Mettler is survived by her children Marjorie Bonadies and her husband John of Hamden; her son Mark Mettler and his wife Laurie of Wayland, MA; her grandchildren Ben and Mia Bonadies and Daniel Mettler and his wife Christy Laubach and Maxie Mettler; her sister Caroline Hirschfeld and her husband Thomas; as well as her nephew and niece Eric and Karen Hirschfeld.
