Joyce Flood

SOUTHINGTON - Joyce L. Flood, 84, passed away Wednesday August 25, 2010 at Southington Care Center in Southington. She was the wife of David W. Flood.

Joyce was born June 23, 1926 in Augusta, ME and was the daughter of the late Clarence and Edith (Choate) Philbrick.

Joyce taught at Chapman School in Cheshire for over 25 years prior to her retirement.

Besides her husband Joyce is survived by two sons, James A. and his wife Deborah Flood of Southington, Robert L. and his wife Marybeth Flood of Plantsville; a daughter Marilyn and her husband Richard Rock of Cheshire; a brother Leighton and his wife Barbara Philbrick of Cumberland, ME; two sisters Barbara Mertz of Corsicana, TX and Jayne Davis of Framingham, MA; and several Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Joyce was predeceased by a son Kenneth R. Flood; and two brothers in law, Dr. Robert Mertz, and Edward Davis.

Arrangements- Funeral Services for Joyce will be held August 31, 2010 at 11 A.M, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 59 Main Street, Cheshire, CT 06410. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 5 to 7 P.M at The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St., 06410.
