Joseph J. Salomoni Sr.

NAUGATUCK- Joseph J. Salomoni Sr., age 95, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of the late Elizabeth M. “Liz” (Stoica) Salomoni to whom he was married to for 63 years, and married at St. Raphael Church on October 3, 1953.

Joseph was born on December 24, 1928 in Tarrytown, NY, son of the late Albino and Catherine (Farmaggioni) Salomoni. He was raised in Bridgeport and was a resident for 60 years before moving to Naugatuck.

Joseph served his country with honor and pride with the US Army and the US Army Reserves. He worked in machine repair at AVCO Lycoming/Textron. Joseph attended all his son’s sporting events during their youth, coached for the Little League, and rooted for the NY Yankees. He and his wife, Liz enjoyed traveling to the Caribbean and Italy, and spent many summers up at Winnipesaukee. 

He is the beloved father of Joseph John and his wife, Susan Salomoni of Shelton and their children, Gina and her husband, Matthew Gouveia, and Leah Murtishi and her husband, Gimmy; Mark Paul and his wife, Michele Salomoni of Naugatuck and their children Melissa and her husband, Dean Ebdon, and Michael Salomoni; and Paul Vincent and his wife, Chantal Salomoni of Bridgeport and their children, Luc Salomoni and his partner, Mikella and Claudine Salomoni; he also leaves his 5 cherished great-grandchildren, Nora, Austin, Eli, Leona and Lucy.

Arrangements- A Mass of Christian of Burial for Mr. Salomoni will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 11:30AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St, Naugatuck, CT 06770. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Harvester Rd, Easton, CT 06612. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck is assisting the family with the arrangements. Donations in his name may be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org.
