Jose Martins

NAUGATUCK - Jose Martins, 92, passed away Friday, January 6, 2017 at his home. He was the husband of Celeste Martins.

Mr. Martins was born April 25, 1924 in Seiros, Portugal, the son of the late Joaquim and Cecilia (Martins) Dias. In 1969 he moved to the U.S. and was a longtime Naugatuck resident. Over the years he worked in various aspects of construction and was always known as a hardworking man who strived to tend to his family’s needs.

Besides his wife of 65 years, Mr. Martins is survived by his daughters Maria Silva and her husband Jaime of Naugatuck, Fernanda McDermott and her husband James of Bethlehem, Palmira Orcutt and her companion John Falkl of Naugatuck; his sister Maria of New Bedford, MA; his five grandchildren, Rosemary Felicetti, James McDermott, Jamie Kingsley, Andrew Orcutt and Justin Orcutt; his great grandchildren Gabriel, Nathaniel, Chester, and Celeste.

Arrangements – A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 am from the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. to Our Lady Of Fatima Church for Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Martins will be held on Tuesday morning from 9:30 until the funeral procession leaves for church at 10:30.
