CHESHIRE - Jon 'Pete' Peterson, 61, of Cheshire, passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010 at Mid-State Medical Center with his loved ones by his side.
Born on March 1, 1949, in New Haven, Jon was the son of the late Carl and Margaret (Hine) Peterson. He grew up in Cheshire and Duxbury, Massachusetts, and graduated from Cheshire Academy. He received his bachelor's degree from Parsons College in Iowa in 1972.
Jon lived in many parts of the country, including Florida, Colorado, and Arizona, where he worked in several different capacities, most recently as a professional driver for a national trucking firm. However, he returned to Cheshire in his later years, where he lived with his girlfriend Jean McSweet.
Jon will be remembered for his warm and engaging personality, his passion for living life to its fullest, and his love for children and pets, especially cats. He loved sports, both as a participant in his younger years and more recently as a passionate spectator. His favorite baseball team was the Boston Red Sox, and he was a master of Red Sox trivia.
In addition to his girlfriend, Jon is survived by his three children, Jillian Wolfe and her husband Christian of Tampa, Florida, Lindsey Peterson and her fianc Clint Brumfield of Tucson, Arizona, and Aaron Peterson of Palm Bay, Florida, who is currently stationed in the Air Force in Okinawa, and by his two sisters, Karen Middleton and her husband John of Arlington, Virginia, and Vicki Cappelli of Malvern, Pennsylvania. He will be especially missed by his two grandchildren,
Zachary and Ashlyn.
Arrangements - Funeral services and burial will be held at a later date. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to an organization of the donor's choice. The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. is assisting with arrangements.
