Newtown - John “Jack” Tatigian, 88, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at his home. He was the husband of Joan (Plaskon) Tatigian.
Mr. Tatigian was born April 29, 1936, in Waterbury, the son of the late John and Julia (Lyons) Tatigian. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury and continued his education at the University of Notre Dame, obtaining his Bachelors in Commerce. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1955 to 1958, and from 1958 until 1962, he served in the Marine Corps. Reserves.
A longtime executive at Peter Paul, Cadbury, and Hershey Foods, Mr. Tatigian served in various roles, including Board Secretary and Vice-President. He served on the Board of Directors at TD Bank, St. Raphael’s Hospital, and Albertus Magnus College. He was a Past President of the Naugatuck Rotary, where he was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award, and was a member of the Naugatuck Lodge of Elks B.P.O.E. 967. He was on the Advisory Board for Notre Dame University and was active with the Archbishop’s Annual Fund Drive.
Besides his wife of 64 years, Mr. Tatigian is survived by his children John Tatigian (Mary), Michael Tatigian (Shari), Steven Tatigian (Alyson), Robert Tatigian (Elizabeth), Joseph Tatigian (Laura); his grandchildren Mikayla, Jack, Catherine, Peter, Megan, Casey, and Claire; his great grandchildren Eleanor and Evelyn; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sister Rosemary Flaherty.
Arrangements – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St. Friends are asked to meet directly at church, and there are no calling hours. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
