CHESHIRE – John Shalagan, 89, passed away Sunday January 4, 2015 at his home with his family at his side. He was the husband of June Shalagan.
Mr. Shalagan was born March 2, 1925 in New Haven, the youngest of four children of the late Thomas and Mary Shalagan. He was a longtime Cheshire resident, moving from New Haven in 1955. After serving in the Marine Corps in WWII he was employed by Western Electric. He was also a communicant of St. Thomas Becket Church where he was active in weekly Mass.
Besides his wife of 59 years, Mr. Shalagan is survived by his sons Robert and his wife Deborah and their children Evan, Ryan and Emma of Cheshire and Stephen and his children Amanda and Michael of Cheshire; his daughter-in-law Claudette Shalagan of Cheshire as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mr. Shalagan is predeceased by his siblings Sophie Waselik, Frances Dmyterko and Charles Joseph Shalagan.
Arrangements – Funerals services will be held on Wednesday January 7, 2015, 9:15 from the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. to St. Thomas Becket Church for Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
