John R. Jones

WATERBURY- John R. Jones, 97, passed away, Friday, May 14, 2021 at Danbury Hospital. He was the loving husband of Maria (Lola) D. (Rosado) Jones who he was married to for 66 years.

Mr. Jones was born August 22, 1923 in Westmoreland Parish, Jamaica son of the late Thomas W. and Muriel A. (Royes) Jones.

John was a School Bus Driver with the City of Waterbury for several decades prior to his retirement. He was an avid fan of the Triple Crown races, and loved western films and TV shows. (Gunsmoke, Big Valley, The Virginian).

Besides his wife Mr. Jones is survived by his 3 children Evelyn Jackson and Hilton F. Jones of Waterbury, Rhoden Jones of West Haven, and two sisters Constance Philips and Muriel Smith; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by 3 sisters, and 3 brothers.

Services for Mr. Jones will be private. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 496 Chase Ave, 06704 is assisting the family with the arrangements.
