WOLCOTT- John J.( Johnny "O") Olshefski, 86, formerly of Arnold St. in Waterbury passed away Thursday July 26, 2012 at Wolcott View Manor.
He was born October 19, 1925 son of the late John and Emilia (Mosier) Olshefski.
John attended Leavenworth High School, and in his senior year joined the United States Army.
He was a World War II Veteran receiving medals for European Theatre, 100th Century Division Infantry, and was a Bronze Star recipient. John was employed by Vickers Manufacturing and Scovill Manufacturing prior to his retirement. He was an avid Yankee Fan and enjoyed bowling, fishing, golf. John was a member of the Lithuanian Club of Waterbury, the V.F.W, and the American Legion.
John's family would like to thank VITAS and the staff at Wolcott View Manor for their care and concern.
He is survived by two sisters Frances Crandall of Smithville, TN and Mary Gray of Wolcott; and several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his sister Ann Mazanski, and Betty O'Connor.
Arrangements- A private funeral service for John will be held at The Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave, 06710. A private burial will follow in the Lithuanian Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Donations in his name may be made to VITAS, 1579 Straits Turnpike, Unit C, Middlebury, CT 06762.
