NAUGATUCK- Mr. John Nicholas Maida, 50 of Naugatuck, passed away Monday afternoon Dec. 30, 2013 as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Norfolk.
John was born in Bridgeport, Jan. 6, 1963, a son of the late Samuel Maida and the late Barbara (Fedak) Debish and was raised in Naugatuck. He was educated in the local school system and was a graduate of Naugatuck High School. He later graduated from Central Conn. State University, and was an instructor in Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling (HVAC), for the Conn. State Vocational System, teaching at Emmitt O'Brien Vocational Technical School, in Ansonia and, A.I. Prince Tech, in West Hartford and Warren F. Kaynor Technical School in Waterbury for over 12 years.
He was a communicant of St. Vincent Ferrer Church and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Naugatuck Arie # 940 and a past President of the Eagle Riders, Motorcycle group. He was also an associate member of the Polish American Club and a member of the Conn. Association of Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors Association.
He leaves his Fianc, Cyndi Corker of Naugatuck, one son, John N. Conner of Naugatuck, 3 daughters, Heather Conner of Naugatuck, Jennifer Perlini of Cheshire, and Stacy Maida of Elmhurst, PA.; 3 sisters, Donna Ferrari of Middlebury, Robin Kramer of Elmhurst, PA, and Carol Bailardo of Stratford and several other siblings. He also leaves 6 grandchildren, Anthony Conner, Alyssa Cottrell, Logan Conner, Gavin Conner, Lucas Cottrell, and Justin Perlini and several nieces and nephews and cousins.
His funeral will be held on Monday Jan. 6, 2014, at 9:15 a.m. from the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. and proceed to St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Rd. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make memorial contributions to St. Vincent's Child Care Program, 1006 New Haven Rd., Naugatuck, 06770-4731.
