WATERBURY- Mr. John K. Lockwood, 63, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Wednesday April 8, 2015.
John was born in Waterbury, Mar. 5, 1952, a son of the late John and Ellen (McMahon) Lockwood and was a veteran of the Viet Nam war with service in the U. S. Marines H & S Co., 9th Mt. Battalion, 3rd Marine Div. For the past 35 years, he was an Independent Long Haul Truck Driver, traveling through every state in the country, earning him the nickname, “The Million Mile Man”.
He leaves behind a son, John Lockwood, a brother, Robert Lockwood and his wife Karen; two sisters; his aunt, Mary; his uncle Tom; 3 nieces and one nephew, along with many cousins. He also leaves behind his best friend Eddy Wester and dear friend, Carol Snow. The family would like to thank Dr. Shore and the staff at Hartford Hospital for the care they provided during John’s illness.
His funeral will be held on Monday April 13, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. from the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave., 06710 and proceed to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial with full military honors will be in new Pine Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday April 12, 2015 from 5 to 7 p.m.
