John 'Jack' W. Bussmann Sr, age 86, of Cheshire, Naples FL, and Edgartown Martha's Vineyard, beloved husband of Marion 'Bunny' Kann Bussmann for 64 years, passed away peacefully on Monday November 5, 2012.
Mr. Bussmann was born in New Haven, CT on April 12, 1926 to the late George and Ottilie Jacob Bussmann. Jack graduated High School from the St. Thomas Military Academy in Minnesota and graduated from Lehigh University in 1950.
Jack was a WWII veteran, serving our country honorably in the US Navy. He went on to become a special agent in the FBI for several years and was then the President of the Rip Van Winkle Motel in New Haven. He became the Vice President of Sales for the Seaboard Oil Company in New Haven and then President for the company until 1999. He was also the President of the R.W. Hine Oil Company in Cheshire and President of the Cleary Millwork Co. Inc. in Rocky Hill and Seaboard Oil Company CEO until 2012.
Jack was a member of the Quinnipiac Club in New Haven, Racebrook Country Club in Orange, The Farms Country Club in Wallingford, Quail Run Golf Club in Naples as well as Farm Neck Golf Club in Martha's Vineyard, and The Woodbridge Club. Jack was also a former society of FBI Agents Member.
He will always be remembered as a kind gentleman and loving father, grandfather and husband. Survivors, in addition to his beloved wife Bunny, include his children; John (Jack) W. Bussmann, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Cheshire, Kenneth J. Bussmann and his wife Marjorie of Wallingford, Elizabeth (Beth) Wilby and her husband Chip of Cheshire and Barbara Lyke and her husband Jim of Cheshire, seven grandchildren; Jeffrey Bussmann and his wife Nicole, Jessica Bussmann, John and Anna Lyke, Kyle Bussmann and Robin Wilby and several nieces and nephews. Jack is pre-deceased by his two brothers; George and Robert Bussmann and his grandson Christopher Wilby.
Arrangements- Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bridget's Church, Cheshire, on Friday morning at 10AM. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery, Cheshire. Friends may call Thursday, November 8th, from 4-7PM at The Alderson and Slater Funeral Home, 615 South Main Street (Route 10) Cheshire.
