NAUGATUCK - John J. Palmer, Sr., 84, of Naugatuck, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2015, peacefully at his home with his wife Emily and his son Patrick at his side. He was the husband of Emily (Potter) Palmer.
Mr. Palmer was born August 1, 1930 in Waterbury, the son of the late James and Theresa (Coffey) Palmer. He was a devoted family man as well as a good friend, who enjoyed stock car driving, racing in West Haven, Waterford, and Plainville. He worked for many years at Hubbard Hall before his retirement in the early 90s.
Besides his wife of 61 years, Mr. Palmer is survived by his sons James L. Palmer and his wife Patricia and their son James of Sebastian, FL, John J. Palmer Jr. and his children Zach and Spencer of Stratford, Patrick A. Palmer and his wife Angela and their daughter Trinity Morgan of Waterbury; his sisters Alice Harrison of New Mexico, Theresa Green of Miami, FL and Bernadette White of Pembroke Pines FL; his daughter-in-law, Pamela Palmer and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers, James and Bernard.
Arrangements – Funeral services will be held 7:00 pm on Monday, February 2, 2015 at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be held Monday from 6 p.m. until the start of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association 2911 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, CT 06518.
