John Higgs

WATERBURY- Mr. John Emanuel Higgs, 87 of Waterbury, passed away Monday June 25, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Sylvia (Roberts) Higgs.

Mr. Higgs was born in Key West, Fl. July 11, 1924, a son of the late Charles and Marie Higgs, and had been a Waterbury resident for the past 5 years, moving here from New York City. Prior to his retirement, he was a business owner in the Fish industry and a former Shop Manager and Metal Smith in the Polishing and Finishing industry.

He is survived by his children; 4 Sons, Yowkonon Higgs and Shimshom Higgs, Michael Higgs, and Tyrone Higgs; 4 daughters, Adina Higgs. Soro Amatus-Sabur, Rivka Higgs, and Ereaka Higgs; 2 brothers, Calvin Higgs and Brodie Higgs; 3 sisters, Louise Higgs, Vivian Higgs-Benne, and Roxsan Higgs.; 3 sisters-in-law, Vivian Salley, Bernice Roberts and Emily Higgs; one brother-in-law, Albert Benett; 26 Grandchildren; 30 Great-Grandchildren and one Great-Great-Grandchild. He was pre-deceased by 2 sons, Benyomin Higgs and Dovid Higgs; one grandson, Ibribim Sabur ; two brothers, Richard and Charles Higgs; one sister-in-law, Coralee Higgs and 3 brothers-in-law, Louis Husband, Benjamin Sulley and George Marks.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday June 27, 2012 at 12:30 p.m at Workman's Circle Cemetery, Stillson Rd., Waterbury. Shiva will be observed at the home of his daughter Adina Higgs, 66 Lockhart Ave. Waterbury, 06705.
