John Freismuth

Mr. John S. Freismuth, 86 of Cheshire passed away Thursday March 18, 2010 at his home. He was the husband of Catherine (Grubler) Freismuth.

Mr. Freismuth was born November 25, 1923 in Wheeling, West Virginia a son of the late Louis and Elizabeth (Cook) Freismuth and has been a Cheshire resident since 1972. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in Wheeling and earned his degree in Engineering from Lawrence Technological University in Michigan. He was a mechanical engineer and consultant retiring from Veam-Litton Co. in Watertown. He had also worked at many other area companies including Scovill Mfg. He was a WWII veteran serving in the US Navy with the Seabees on the Aleutian Islands. Mr. Freismuth enjoyed cooking, genealogy, bridge, fishing, and gardening, was a ham radio operator and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a Communicant of Saint Thomas Becket Church.

Besides his wife, he leaves his son, John W. Freismuth and his wife Pam of Palatine, IL, his daughters, Catherine Robinson and her husband Elwin of Wheeling, West Virginia, Karen Luca and her husband Francis of Meriden and Susan Baker and her husband Paul of Cheshire, his brothers, Paul Freismuth and Kenneth Freismuth both of Florida, his sister Betty Lou Ellis of Indiana and his grandchildren, Alicia, Adam, Andrew, Allison, Bryan, Molly and Meghan.

A memorial mass for Mr. Freismuth will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Saint Thomas Becket Church 435 North Brooksvale Road in Cheshire. Burial will be at the convenience of his family. There are no calling hours. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association 5 Brookside Drive Wallingford, CT. 06492 or to Saint Thomas Becket Church. The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire 615 South Main Street has care of arrangements.
