BEACON FALLS - John F. Gracy, 91, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at his home in Beacon Falls where he was a lifelong resident.

Mr. Gracy was born December 22, 1925 in New Haven. He was the son of the late Eugene and Helen (King) Gracy. He worked as a shipfitter in the Navy during World War II and served on the USS LST 119, USS LST 31, USS LST 679 and USS Belle Isle. When the war ended, he worked as a truck driver for many years and then worked as a gas attendant at Gabe’s Mobil after he retired. In his spare time, he volunteered as a Past Commander for the Disabled American Veterans at the Derby Shelton Chapter 4.

He is survived by his daughters and sons, Deborah Zalenski, Helen DeGeorge, Kathy Gracy, and Jamie Gracy of Beacon Falls, Carol Blum of Woodbridge, Kelly Battis of Niantic, and his eldest sons, Frank and John Gracy. He leaves behind his 19 grandchildren, his 10 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mr. Gracy is predeceased by his 2 sisters, June Mitchell and Jean Young, his brother James Gracy, his son Joseph Gracy, and his granddaughter Pamela Gracy. The Gracy Family would like to give special thanks to his caregiver Tosin, and Beacon Hose Company No. 1 ambulance.

Arrangements – Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home in Naugatuck, 201 Meadows Street from 11 am to 2 pm with a funeral service concluding the visitation. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
