John Di Tomasso, a long-time resident of Cheshire, Connecticut passed peacefully on August 22, 2022, just two weeks shy of his 90th birthday. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dea (Cervone), and his son Anthony, of Westport, Connecticut.
John was born in Civitacampomarano, in the region of Molise, Italy to Antonio Di Tomasso and Antonietta Di Paolo. He immigrated to the United States in 1952 and settled in Yonkers, New York. In 1962 he met his wife Dea at a company Christmas party and they were married in the summer of 1964. Together, they enjoyed outings to the Metropolitan Opera and traveling abroad, until deciding to start a family. A meticulous person by nature, he found his calling as a design engineer and was proud of his nearly 35-year career at Ultra Electronics in Wallingford.
An avid sportsman, John was an accomplished soccer player as a young man and he later took up golf, which became his passion later in life. The enjoyment of both sports with his son was among his greatest pleasures. He was always eager to welcome family and friends with a warm smile and a hearty greeting, and his sharp wit and sense of humor will be greatly missed.
A memorial mass will be held at a later date.
