NAUGATUCK- Mr. John A. Nacunas, 92 of Naugatuck, passed away Wednesday Feb. 8, 2017 at the Apple Rehab of Watertown. He was the husband of the late Alice (Hoppe) Nacunas who passed away in 1998 after 47 years of marriage.
Mr. Nacunas was born in Waterbury. July 27, 1924, a son of the late Anthony and Josephine (Bositis) Nacunas and was educated in the Waterbury school system and a graduate of Wilby High School. Following graduation, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a retired employee of NCR Corp., retiring in 1988 with over 40 years of service. A longtime Naugatuck resident, he was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and a member of V.F.W. Post 201 of Waterbury.
He is survived by his daughter Gail A, Nacunas of Waterbury and a nephew, Gary Hoppe of Mass.
Mr. Nacunas’ daughter would like to express her sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff in Westbury and Hemingway wings at Apple Rehab for the wonderful care given to her father during his stay there.
Arrangements: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday Feb. 13, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Friends are asked to meet directly a church. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery, 127 Cross St. Naugatuck. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck, CT 06770 or St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck is assisting with the arrangements.
