John A. Lynch, age 86, of Morris and longtime resident of Cheshire entered into rest on Friday, February 20, 2015 at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. He was the devoted husband of the late Dolores M. (Ippolito) Lynch. John was born on August 16, 1928 in Bronx NY, son of the late John and Mary (Jordan) Lynch.
John served his country with pride and honor; joining the US Navy the day after his 17th birthday. After returning to civilian life, he worked as an electrician in New Haven, and was a Past Master Mason at the Masonic Temple 16 in Cheshire. In addition to being a great father, awesome grandfather and the world’s best chess player; John enjoyed working on his colossal train set, chopping wood and snow blowing.
He is the beloved father of Valerie St. John and her husband Robert of Cheshire and Doreen Sudol and her husband Stanley of Morris. John is also survived by his cherished grandchildren; Amanda Bontempo and her husband Eugene, Stan Sudol, Ian St. John, John Lynch Sudol, Timothy St. John and Kelsey Sudol; and his adored dog, Duke. He was the “last man standing” and was predeceased by his siblings; Michael Lynch, James Lynch and Margaret McSweeney.
Services for John will be private and at the convenience of his family. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire has been entrusted with his arrangements. At the request of his family, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Burn Institute, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114-2601.
