Mr. John Anson Davis, age 83, of Venice, FL departed this world on Thursday, January 16, 2020 after a brief illness. He was a long time resident of Naugatuck, CT for over 50 years. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Mary S. Davis, now of Venice, FL. They were married for 60 years.
John (Anson) was born in Albany, VT on Feb. 25, 1936, son of Irving Davis and Ila Davis of Norton, MA. Besides his wife, Mary, Anson leaves behind his children, Robin Davis of Venice, FL, Michael Davis of TN and Jack Davis of Middlebury, CT. He was predeceased by his son, Barry J. Davis; his parents; his sisters, Arlene Bates of Bellows Falls, VT and Wanda Anderson of Norton, MA; and his brothers, Carlton Davis, Elwood Davis and Robert Davis, all of MA.
He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, who he loved dearly; Jayce C. Davis of CO, Elise Killer-Migliore of NY and Karl A. Killer of West Haven, CT; and is also survived by many nieces and nephews in VT, MA, NC and AZ.
Anson worked as a heavy equipment operator for Harrelson Construction, and travelled out West and all across CT installing gas pipeline. His hobbies were boating, building model trains and gardening. Anson enjoyed his retirement and spent his time outside, wintering in Florida, enjoying his Boston terrier, Topper and being with his family. We will miss his quick wit, his wonderful smile, his beautiful blue eyes and his fighting spirit.
A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, August 16, 2021 at 10:30AM at St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck, CT 06770 Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org) or to a charity of one’s choice.
