Joanne M. Zagarino

PROSPECT - Joanne M. Zagarino, 66, passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at MidState Medical Center. She was the wife of Frank Zagarino. Joanne was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, and was a longtime resident of Wallingford, CT before moving to Prospect in 2018.

Besides her husband of 43 years, Mrs. Zagarino is survived by her daughters Jennifer Carugan and her husband Michael of Stamford and Jacquelyn Anderson and her husband Donald of Prospect, as well as her grandchildren Ansly and Harper Anderson; her sister Jacquelyn Szymczak; her brother Thomas Herlihy; and her uncle William Herlihy.

Joanne was happiest around her family. She was a loving wife and devoted to raising her two daughters to be strong, successful women. She always put her family first, attending multiple softball games in one afternoon, driving to dance classes, sitting through dance recitals, and preparing home cooked meals. She did it all and encouraged her children to do it all as well.

She loved her sweets! She was quite the baker and passed her love and talent on to her two daughters. Joanne was also passionate about animals. From family pets growing up, to her own pets with her immediate family, to her grand dogs. She always wanted each pet to have a home and know love.

In later years, Joanne adored being surrounded by her grandchildren and granddogs. She also enjoyed pasta dinners with Frank and sampling all the treats her daughters would bake for her.

Joanne will be remembered for her devotion to her family, both immediate and extended, her love of all things sweet, and her ability to have a sarcastic comment ready at a moment's notice.

Arrangements – Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. from 8:30 to until her funeral procession leaves for church at 9:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am at St. Anthony Church, Prospect. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington.
