NAUGATUCK- Mrs. Joan “Joanie” (Palmer) Seastrand, 72, of Naugatuck, passed away Monday May 28, 2018 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the widow of John F. “Jack” Seastrand who passed away in 2006 after 40 years of marriage.
Joanie was born in Waterbury, Aug. 30, 1945, a daughter of the late Russell and Eleanor (Reed) Palmer and had been a Naugatuck resident all of her life. She was educated in the local school system and was a graduate of Naugatuck High School. She was a retired employee of Ion Bank, retiring in 2016 after 12 years of service. She had previously been employed by Lewis Engineering for over 30 years, prior to their closing. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and had been a member of the Degree of Pocahontas - The Improved Order of Red Men.
She is survived by her nephew, Kiley Palmer, and his wife, Catherine, of Southington, her great-nephew Brett Palmer, her great-niece, Brooke Palmer, her great-great nephew Hunter Palmer, her godson, Brandon, and her life-long friend, Georgiana Hayward of Naugatuck. In addition to her husband, she was pre-deceased by her infant daughter, Heather Ann Seastrand and her brother, William Palmer.
Her funeral will be held on Friday June 1, 2018 at 10:15 a.m. from the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. and proceed to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, 225 Cross St., Naugatuck.
