CHESHIRE, CT; Mrs. Joan E. (Kennedy) Lynch, 86 of Cheshire, CT formerly of Philadelphia, passed away Thursday December 2, 2010 at the Alzheimer's Resource Center in Plantsville, CT. She was the widow of Thomas J. Lynch, Sr.
Mrs. Lynch was born April 15, 1924 in Philadelphia, PA a daughter of the late John J. and Marie G. (Crosson) Kennedy, Sr. She was educated in Philadelphia schools and was a graduate of West Catholic High School class of 1942. She was employed as a Tax Examiner for the Internal Revenue Service retiring after many years of service. Mrs. Lynch was a member of the "Backyard Ladies". A devout Catholic, she was a communicant of Saint Christopher Church in Philadelphia where she was a member of the seniors group. She was a communicant of Saint Bridget Church in Cheshire.
She leaves her sons, Thomas J. Lynch, Jr. and his wife Deborah of New Jersey, Michael T. Lynch and his wife Carol and Gerald J. Lynch and his wife Janet all of Philadelphia and John Lynch and his wife Leanne of New Jersey, her daughters, Joan E. Carroll and her husband Raymond of Philadelphia and Marie C. Klem and her husband Thomas of Cheshire, CT with whom she made her home, 18 grandchildren including Thomas F. Klem and his wife Kelly of Simsbury, Lisa Marie Klem of Waterbury, Michael Klem of Cheshire and "# 19" Lisa Ann Galvin of Waterbury and 5 great grandchildren including Katie Klem of Simsbury and her sixth, Thomas J. Klem, expected in April. She was predeceased by her daughter Katie Lynch, her brother John J. Kennedy, Jr and her sisters, Anne Foley, Catherine Noon and Eileen Inglesby.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Lynch will be celebrated Thursday December 9, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Christopher Church 13301 Proctor Road Philadelphia, PA 19116. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Langhorne, PA. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Calling hours will be held in Cheshire, CT on Tuesday December 7 at the Alderson Funeral Home 615 South Main Street from 5 to 8 p.m. If desired memorial contributions in Joan's name may be made to Saint Bridget Church 175 Main street Cheshire, Ct 06410 or to Saint Christopher Church in Philadelphia.
