Mrs. Jennie Frances (Wioncek) Veillette, 97, of Cheshire passed away Monday October 5, 2009 at the Highlands Healthcare Center. She was the widow of Walter Veillette.
Mrs. Veillette was born July 20, 1912 in Waterbury daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Szpernal) Wioncek and was a longtime Cheshire resident. She was predeceased by her sisters, Helen Lord of Lyme, New Hampshire, Nellie Shannon, Victoria Mosgrove and Mary Madden all of Waterbury and her brother John Wioncek of Prospect. Mrs. Veillette worked as an Inspector at Chase Brass and Copper in Waterbury and later worked at Marion Industries in Cheshire.
She vacationed with her husband in Canada and the Amish Country in Pennsylvania and loved to go fishing. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and collecting antiques and she particularly liked to frequent the various farms and nurseries in Cheshire. She made friends easily and will be greatly missed by the numerous friends, neighbors and relatives who loved her.
She is survived by her nieces, Leslie French of West Haven, Frances Tatalias of Roxbury, JoAnn Wioncek of Torrington, Joan Church of Midway, Georgia and Joan Stacy of Lady Lake, Florida and her nephews Robert Shannon of Claremont, Florida and John Lord of Lyme, New Hampshire.
Funeral services for Mrs. Veillette will be held Friday at 10:15 a.m. from the Slater Funeral Home 242 South Main Street Cheshire to Saint Bridget Church 175 Main Street, Cheshire for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury.
