Waterbury - Mrs. Jeannette D. (Jeanne) Broder, 94, of Boston, MA, previously of Waterbury, passed away in Boston on Saturday November 14, 2009.
Mrs. Broder was born in New York City, New York on March 27, 1915, a daughter of the late Louis and Lizzie (Abrams) Diamond. She was the widow of Max L. Broder, to whom she was married for 40 years. She attended New York schools and worked as an office manager for Sanita Paper Products Co. prior to moving to Waterbury in 1949. She was a retired employee of the State Department of Motor Vehicles in Waterbury.
She was a life member of Hadassah, a former member of Beth El Synagogue, and its Sisterhood, in Waterbury and Congregation Kol Ami in Cheshire. She was also a former member of the Max Traurig Adult Leisure Group.
She leaves two sons, Gary L. Broder, and his wife Kathi of Waterbury and Dr. Steven N. Broder and his wife, Amy, of Newton Centre, MA; four grandsons, Joshua M. Broder, and his wife, Allison, of Higganum, CT, Ezra A Broder, of Waterbury, David E. Broder and Adam S. Broder, both of Washington, DC; a granddaughter, Claudia Barbuto of Bristol, CT; a brother George Diamond of Far Rockaway, NY; a sister, Ms. Nettie Diamond of Delray Beach, FL and numerous nephews, nieces and grandnephews and grandnieces.
Arrangements - Funeral services will be held Monday, November 16, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave. Shiva will be held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 7:00 PM at the home of Gary Broder, 205 Columbia Blvd, Waterbury.
