Jean Molaver

Jean Molaver

Our beloved mom, Jean Molaver, aged 96, died peacefully at her home in Southbury CT on (July 1, 2024), surrounded by her family.

She was the matriarch of our family, and a true inspiration to us all.

Jean was the loving wife of Coleman Molaver to whom she was happily married for nearly 50 years.

She was the daughter of the late Goldie and Abraham Klickstein, of Haverhill, MA. Jean spent her early years in Haverhill with her sister Lillian and her brothers Murray, Billy and Freddie.

She met the love of her life, Coleman, and they married and settled in Waterbury. Jean and Coleman spent many happy years raising their children in Bucks Hill followed by the Overlook area and ultimately, she moved to Heritage Village in Southbury.

Jean was somewhat legendary during her 35 + years of employment at Mikerz (now Fulton) Pharmacy. She was a constant in the lives of so many, with her smiles, generosity, caring, humor and tenderness shared with anyone who knew her. She had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed hearing and sharing a good joke or story.

Jean was a master knitter, making countless baby blankets, sweaters and afghans for friends and family, with her back-zipped baby sweater topping the list.

In her spare time Jean enjoyed bowling and was a fiercely competitive card player who enjoyed beating all of her friends with a twinkle in her eye. Jean was an avid, life-long Mahjong player who taught the game to many over the years. In her later years she also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and playing RummiKub with her family, friends and neighbors. She was a voracious reader all of her life. She was exceedingly generous with her heart, time and energy and made an everlasting impact on so many - to know her was to love her.

She is survived by her two daughters, Billie Spiegel and her husband, Peter, of New York City, and Lisa Molaver and her husband, Joe Gietek, of Southington, CT and by her two sons, Jonathan Molaver and his wife, Sheila, of Southington CT and Steven Molaver and his husband Neil Fisher of Scottsdale, AZ. Additionally, she leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who all adored and loved her dearly. She was predeceased by her parents, Goldie and Abraham Klickstein, her husband, Coleman Molaver, sister Lillian Gofstein, and brothers Murray, William and Frederick Klickstein.

The funeral and burial will be private, followed by visitation on Wednesday, July 3, from 3:00 – 6:00 and Thursday and Friday, July 4 and July 5 from 1:00 to 5:00 at Jean’s home at 927-A (Hilltop Road East), Heritage Village, Southbury CT. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury is assisting with arrangements.
