CHESHIRE- Jean M. Suter, 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury.

Jean was born September 22, 1932 in Tarrytown, NY to the late Thomas and Jane (Duncan) Gleason.

Jean graduated North Tarrytown High School in 1950 and worked for many years as a secretary with the County Trust Bank in Tarrytown. She moved to Connecticut in 1959 and worked as Assistant Treasurer of the Woodbridge Bank. In later years, she worked as a legal secretary with several law firms in the area. Jean was a member of the Eastern Star, a member of Clan Donnachaidh Society and the Cheshire Red Hat Ladies. She loved to read, watch classic movies and she collected paperweights and lighthouses.

She is survived by her daughter, Laura J. Corbo and her husband Joe of Cheshire; her sisters, Patricia Sanford of Wayne, NJ and Susan Batson of Hampton, VA; her granddaughters Sarah (Rykowski) and her husband Randol Abelli of Wolcott and Hilary Corbo and her fiancée Kevin Thammavongsa of Watertown; her two great-grandchildren, Adam and Violet Abelli; as well as her two nieces, Wendy and Jill Komar and two nephews, Robert and Timothy McDonough. She also leaves her ex-husband and dearest friend, William Suter.

Jean’s family wishes to extend a heart- felt thank you to Connecticut Community Care Inc., VNA and her companion, Daylin from “Almost Family,” for their genuine love, care and support during this difficult time.

Arrangements- A graveside service at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Sleepy Hollow, NY, will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. Cheshire, is assisting Jean’s family with the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St., I-91 Tech Ctr. Rocky Hill, CT 06067-3045.
