Jean K. Slifka

CHESHIRE - Jean K. Slifka, 89, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2015.

Mrs. Slifka was born September 7, 1925, one of eight children, in Mercer, PA, the daughter of the late Dr. Thomas and Mary Elizabeth (Orr) King. She was a Registered Nurse working at Cheshire Academy as the house nurse as well as Yale New Haven Hospital in the Emergency Room and Skyview Health and Rehab in Wallingford. She was an active member of the Cheshire community where she was a communicant of St. Bridget Church and a member of the Ladies Guild. She enjoyed gardening and being outdoors.

She is survived by her daughters Catherine S. Ilnicki and her husband Ray of Cheshire and Barbara Short and her husband Robert of Malibu, CA; her sons Ret. Lt. Col. Michael Slifka and his wife Diana of Vienna, VA, David Slifka of Hyannis, MA, and Richard Slifka of Santa Monica, CA; her grandchildren, Kelly Leonard and Ray; her two great-grandchildren Julia and Josef; as well as many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Slifka is predeceased by her Son, Stephen Slifka III.

Arrangements – Funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family and there are no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2911 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, CT 06518.
