NAUGATUCK- Mrs. Jean Dorothy (Sutliffe)(Murgatory) Jarvis, 81, of 131 School St., Naugatuck, died early Sunday May 31, 2009 at the Waterbury Hospital. She was the widow of Howard Murgatory and Edward Jarvis.
Mrs. Jarvis was born in Northfield, July 11, 1927, a daughter of the late Floyd and Jeanette (Curtiss) Sutliffe and had been a Naugatuck resident for the past year, moving here from Terryville. She was the retired co-owner of Ma and Pa's Flag Car Service, and Jeans Oil Service.
She leaves a daughter Melody Murgatory Nelson of Naugatuck, with whom she made her home, and an adopted daughter, Melodie Reynolds Tino of North Carolina; one sister Bernice St. Dennis of Hemit, CA; a niece, Denise Christensen of California, and one nephew, Ronald St. Dennis of Idaho; 3 God-daughters, Bonnie Soucy, Kelly Yurewitch, and Mary Seiman; and 8 grandchildren, Katie Soucy, Sarah Soucy, Ashley Smith, Gina Tino, Dominic Tino, Becky Yarosis, Sarah Yarosis, and Donna Atwood
A memorial gathering will be held on Friday June5th at the Polish American Club, 199 Bridge St., Naugatuck, from 5 to 9 pm with a service at 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to her daughter Melody at 131 School St., Naugatuck, 06770 The Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. is assisting the family with arrangements.
