NAUGATUCK- Mrs. Jean A. (Trauger) Sloss, of Naugatuck, passed away Wednesday Nov. 4, 2015 at her home, she was the widow of Frederick J. Retkowski, who passed away in January of the year.
Mrs. Sloss was born in Westmoreland County, PA, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Anna (Pugner) Trauger and had been a Naugatuck resident for over 30 years. She was a graduate of Warren F. Kaynor Regional Technical School-Nursing Division and had worked at Watertown Convalarium and Park Manor Nursing Home for a number of years and had enjoyed caring for the elderly. She enjoyed her husband, loved her children and especially her grandchildren and dedicated her life to her family and friends.
She loved crocheting, knitting and babysitting her grandchildren, all sports and cooking up good meals and visiting the casinos.
She leaves two sons, Mark Sloss and Kevin Sloss and his wife, Michelle; 3 grandchildren, Dylan, Tyler and Kayla Sloss; 3 step-children, Joseph Retkowski and his wife Jackie, Tammy Markey and Sandra Retkowski; 5 step-grandchildren, Jayson, Matthew and Travis Markey, Chyna Davis and Davinity Smallwood; two sisters, Helen Krzykowski of South Carolina, and Lorraine Furtado of Texas; one brother, Lloyd Trauger of Oxford. She was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Flaherty and Barbara Murray.
All services will be private with burial at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck, 06770-2805.
