COLUMBIA, SC –Jared Bleh Coffin, 26, formerly of Cheshire, passed away March 26, 2015 at his residence. He was the son of Don and Laura (Bleh) Coffin.
He was a 2006 graduate of Coffin Academy home school grades 1-12. Jared continued his education graduating Summa Cum Laude from the Honors program at Southern CT State University earning a B.A. in English in 2012. During his time at SCSU, he worked on the staff of FOLIO, SCSU’s Arts and Literary Magazine, serving as Editor-in-Chief from 2011 to 2012. He attended the University of South Carolina on a full scholarship and teaching assistantship and was due to graduate in May 2015 with an M.F.A. in Poetry.
Jared was an avid writer, art lover and published poet. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking, mountain biking and flying, having obtained his private pilot’s license in 2009.
Besides his parents, Jared is survived by his sister Alyssa Fisher Coffin of Rochester, MA; Grandparents Carol Coffin of West Hartford, CT; Harry and Marie Bleh of Virginia Beach, VA as well as 11 aunts/uncles and 10 cousins.
Arrangements – A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday April 11, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Oasis Church 176 Sandbank Rd. in Cheshire. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. Memorial contributions may be made to Jared B.
