CHESHIRE - Janice H. Rood, 91, died Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at her home in Cheshire. She was the wife of the late Wydell F. Rood who passed away in 2008.
Mrs. Rood was born February 28, 1926 in Woodbury, the daughter of the late Edson M. and Esther L. (Beardsley) Horton. She graduated Woodbury High School (Class of 1944) and earned a BA in Business from UConn (Class of 1948). She and Wydell lived many happy years together in Waterbury, Nokomis, Florida and Elim Park in Cheshire.
Many of us have been the recipient of a knitting project of Jan’s, been a square dance or bridge partner, admired her gardening skills or received the gifts of her volunteer work at Elim Park, Bunker Hill Congregational Church in Waterbury where she held several positions and the YWCA in Waterbury where she served as treasurer. She was known to have made friends wherever she lived and will be remembered for being a loving and accepting woman.
She is survived by her daughter Linda R. Bowers and her husband John of Middletown; her son David Rood and his wife Susan of Branford; her grandchildren Kristin Wildermann (Jeffrey O’Connor) of Madison, Asa Wildermann (Elizabeth) of Madison, Ian Wildermann (Eileen) of Madison, Jennifer Espinoza (Manuel) of Wethersfield, and Owen Rood (Courtney Adams, fiancée) of Milwaukee, WI; and her 5 great grandsons, Paul, Lee, Jack, Rowan, and Henry.
Arrangements – Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 10, 2017 at 10:00 am in Nelson Hall at Elim Park Baptist Home, 150 Cook Hill Rd., Cheshire, CT. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Evergreen Cemetery, Watertown and there are no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements.
