Mrs. Janet (Stevens) Cronn, 89 of Naugatuck, passed away Monday December 16, 2024 at the Lutheran Home of Southbury. She was the loving wife of the Rev. Steven L. Cronn.
Janet was born June 2, 1935 in Bridgeport a daughter of the late Wallace Robert and Helen (Matoon) Stevens. She was a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University where she earned her Master’s Degree in Mathematics and special education. Janet had a passion for divinity, almost graduating to give her a third masters. Janet taught at all grade levels, from primary through college. She taught special education in the primary grades and mathematics in college at the University of Bridgeport. Along with her husband, they ministered at the 3rd Presbyterian Church in Norfolk, Virginia where she also served as a nursing home chaplain. Janet was a very creative person who loved crafting. She was known for knitting hats, socks, mittens and scarves for family members and also for those less fortunate. Janet was a caring, loving and giving person, who will be greatly missed.
Besides her husband of Naugatuck, she leaves her daughters Laura Dikovsky Smith and Hope Vitko (Larry), her sons, Ricky Mazzadra and Richard Chuma (Kristen) and her grandchildren Lawrence Vitko and Orlando Rivera; Benjamin and Caitlyn Vitko; Erin and and Brett Dini; Daniel Chuma; James Mazzadra, Lia Mazzadra and Joseph Mazzadra and Andria Channels along with extended family Brianna Castelot with two great grandchildren Brooke and Bryce Dini. She will be met in loving arms by family that has preceded her with her Sister Alice Vitko and Grandson Robert Bombardier.
A graveside private service in celebration of Janet’s life will be held privately in Grove Cemetery in Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association 5 Brookside Drive Wallingford, CT 06492 or to the American Cancer Society 111 Founders Plaza 2nd Floor East Hartford, CT 06108 or to the Alzheimer’s Association Connecticut Chapter 200 Executive Blvd S #4B Southington, CT 06489. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck has care of arrangements.
