SAN BERNARDINO- Jane S. Cookson 86, of San Bernardino went home to the Lord on Sunday February 3rd, 2013.
Jane was born in Waterville, CT in 1926. She graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1947 from Millard Fillmore School of Nursing in Buffalo, Massachusetts. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Boston University in 1951. Jane loved nursing and wanted to make a difference in the world so she enrolled in the USAF from 1955-1959. She served as a nurse and worked her way up to becoming a Major in the USAF. She always loved telling stories of all the places she was stationed, and her experiences with the Iron Lung during the Polio epidemic. In 1962 she moved to San Bernardino and was a nurse at Community Hospital. In 1963, she went to work for the County of San Bernardino in the Foster Care Unit as a Supervisor and retired in 1986.
Jane was an avid reader and loved to travel. Her love for traveling started when she was in the Air Force and it continued even after she completed her service. She made several visits to Hawaii to see her best friend of over eighty years and also traveled to England to see the Westminster Dog show since she was breeder of Cocker Spaniel show dogs.
Jane is survived by her only daughter Marjorie Cobb of San Bernardino, and her two grandchildren, Kevin and Melissa Cobb.
