CHESHIRE - James Norback, 86, passed away on Thursday May 13, 2010 at the West Haven Veterans Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Emma (Austin) Norback.
Mr. Norback was born in New Haven on February 22, 1924, the son of the late John and Hazel (Sergent) Norback. He was a 1942 graduate of West Haven High School.
He was a WWII Army Veteran. He attended Eastern Kentucky State College for engineering. He graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelors Degree in Business. Mr. Norback went on to work at Pratt and Whitney before becoming a salesman at Demco Library Supply Co.
He wrote a computer program and authored a book called "Winning Blackjack". He enjoyed several trips to the Bahamas proving his program and teaching it to others.
Besides his wife of 64 years, Mr. Norback is survived by his daughter Janet Norback of Cheshire; his sons James Norback and his wife Karen of CO and Thomas Norback and his wife Sarah of Cheshire; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Mr. Norback was predeceased by his sons Gary and Jeffrey Norback as well as his brother John.
Arrangements - A private graveside service with military honors will be held at the convenience of the family at the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jorge Posada Foundation P.O. Box 20541, New York, NY 10021. The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements.
