MERIDEN - James M. Meyer, 87, formerly of Cheshire, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Southington Care Center in Southington. He was the husband of Grace (Geiger) Meyer.
Mr. Meyer was born November 14, 1925 in Weehawken, NJ, the son of the late John H. and the late Margaret (MacLean) Meyer. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy as an aircraft mechanic. He was a longtime New Jersey resident moving to Cheshire in 1970. In 1990s, Mr. Meyer was a recipient of the Edgar Award, a nationally recognized award for over 50 years of incident free service to the industry. During his career in corporate aviation maintenance management he helped establish and run the Fixed Base Operations at Oxford Airport.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, Mr. Meyer is survived by his sons Glenn (Sarah) of Lynchburg, VA, Todd (Buyun) of Beijing, China and Douglas (Ann) of Westford, MA as well as five grandchildren Amelia, Eric, Jason, Matthew, and Peter. He was predeceased by his brother Robert.
Arrangements - Funeral services will be held on Monday May 6, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S.
