CHESHIRE - James A Porter, 94, formerly of North Branford, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Cheshire Regional Rehab in Cheshire. He was the husband of the late Cecelia E. Porter.
Mr. Porter was born November 27, 1922 in Kentville Province of Nova Scotia, the son of the late Elmo and Eliza Porter. He joined the Canadian army in 1939 and went to London in 1940 where he met his wife, Cecelia. They moved to the US in the mid fifties. James was an artist and also made model soldiers of which one is on display in the North Branford Library. He was a Photo Engraver at Graphic Communications Color Plate for many years until his retirement in 1989. He was a longtime North Branford resident before moving to Cheshire in 2011.
He is survived by her daughters Laurre Porter of Nashville, TN and Corri Boucher and her husband Edward of Cheshire.
Arrangements – A Graveside service was held on Saturday January 7, 2017 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hamden. Memorial contributions may be made to ASPCA or any local animal shelter. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangements.
