CHESHIRE - Irving Morris, 85, passed away peacefully Monday evening March 12, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury.
Mr. Morris was born March 17, 1926 in Washington, D.C., the son of the late Benjamin and Sylvia (Block) Morris. He graduated Brown University where he was an All-American football player at the guard position. Starting at Everybody's Markets working for his father-in-law in the 1940's, he bought & grew the company into a regional chain of successful supermarkets. Shortly after selling his company, he repurchased the Cheshire location, where he tirelessly worked for the business & community he loved.
Mr. Morris is survived by his son Sam Morris of Branford; his three daughters Lisa Sarenduc of Santa Fe, NM, Carol Settel of Palm Harbor, FL, Nina Lapinski of Glastonbury; as well as his six grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son Benjamin Morris of North Haven.
Arrangements - Shiva will be observed on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. Funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
