CHESHIRE- Irene B. Wollschlager, 88, passed away Thursday April 3, 2014 at The Masonic Health Care Center in Wallingford. She was predeceased by her husband Warren J. Wollschlager Sr.
She was born January 22, 1926 in Meriden, daughter of the late Joseph and Victoria (Stolcman) Banaszewski. Irene graduated with a RN degree in 1945 from the Meriden Hospital School of Nursing.
Irene was a kind and gentle person who always said: 'What I treasure most is the love we share.' She brought this sentiment to the five great loves in her life: her husband, her family, her faith, her nursing, and her UCONN Huskies. She approached each with unwavering love, loyalty and dedication, and each returned a lifetime of joy, wonder and happiness.
Irene is survived by her four sons Mark and his wife Sandra Wollschlager of Wethersfield, Atty. Bruce and his wife Christine Wollschlager of Clinton, Warren J. and his wife Sharon Wollschlager of Bristol, RI, and Kevin Wollschlager and his partner Roy Drew of Warwick, RI; a daughter Dr. Christine Wollschlager and her husband Dr. Bernard Adelsberg of Cheshire; beloved niece and nephew, Mary Louise Levesque and her husband William Levesque, and Edward Renca; a sister Alice and her husband Alton Hepp of Meriden; five grandchildren Corinne, Megan, Mark, Rachel, and James; and her two great granddaughters Kiersten, and Alicia.
Arrangements- Irene 's funeral will be held 9:15 A.M, Tuesday April 8, 2014 from The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St, 06410, and proceed to St. Bridget Church, 175 Main Street, Cheshire, 06410 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, 250 Gypsy Lane, Meriden, 06450. Calling hours will be held Monday April 7, 2014 from 5 to 8 P.M at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations in her name may be made to the Warren J. Wollschlager Sr. Memorial Scholarship c/o Saint Joseph School, 159 West Main Street, Meriden, CT 06451.
